Word Wheel Magazine

Word Wheel puzzles are an enduring favourite, and add novelty to the standard anagram puzzle. In each wordwheel there is one word to be found that uses all the letters. In addition you are challenged to find as many other words, of three or more letters, as you can: and all words must be valid, and not a plural or a proper noun, and must always use the central letter in the wordwheel. See how many you can find!

Word Ladder Magazine

Word Ladders are a puzzle that is said to have been invented by Lewis Carroll, so they have quite some history. The aim is deceptively simple: move from the first word to the last word in the stated number of steps, changing one letter at a time and making a new, valid word at each stage. Some puzzles are straightforward and have many possible routes, whilst some just have one possible route and are a lot harder.

Arrow Sudoku Magazine

Arrow Sudoku is a rarely seen but fascinating sudoku variant, that is rather tricky! The aim is to place 1 - 9 once each in each row, column and 3 x 3 box, just like normal sudoku. However, the puzzle also contains various arrows. The number in the circled box at the start of each arrow is the sum total of the cells that lie along the path of the arrows. This means that there is a combination of maths and logic required to solve this tricky but absorbing puzzle.

Online Puzzles

If you would prefer to play puzzles online rather than print off PDFs, then why not take a look at the Puzzle Club website? It contains an unparalleled range of puzzle types that you can play online, including:

Futoshiki Puzzles

Futoshiki Puzzles are a novel variant of sudoku. In this puzzle type, you must place 1 - 5 once in each row and column. But some inequalities are shown, to indicate whether the value of certain cells are higher or lower than the stated neighbour. You must use this information to help you whittle down the values of certain cells and therefore help you to solve the puzzles as a result.

Kakuro Puzzles

Kakuro puzzles contains 100 kakuro puzzles. In this puzzle you must work out the answers to the various sums in such a way that a number is never repeated in the cells that compose the answer to each sum, and such that you only use the numbers from 1 - 9.

Calcudoku Puzzles

Calcudoku puzzles contains 100 calcudoku puzzles, which is a variant of sudoku. This puzzle requires you to place 1 - 6 once in each row and column, and also such that the totals of the bold lined regions match the sum stated at the top left of that box: these may be division, multiplication, addition or subtraction sums.
